My cat, Floyd, is quite fluffy and so he overheats in warm weather. His cool-off spot is in my closet. He’s been there a lot this summer. I’ve probably got too much stuff on the floor right now because he barely fits. Today he left his paws sticking out under the door.

Cuddles, our cat, had the same problem with heat and long hair. She also has a problem with grooming. Once she coughed so hard that Dick looked, then pulled a bunch of hair from the back of her throat. Our solution, a shave that leaves a ruff, fluff at the end of the tail, and leggings–like a lion. It’s a look!
She hated the buzz of the electric clippers, but has so much energy now, she’s kittenish. In winter, I give her a pillow with a pet heater inside and she’s warm and content.
