BTW, I completely gave up on chat standup. I really hated them. Back to voice, even with conference call participants.

Inanimate object - I think I'm actually masquerading as the inanimate object. My MS Outlook "rings", and then I have to invite all to a chat. So, it isn't an ideal solution, but I haven't found a way to get the chat to invite us all in at a pre-scheduled time.

Passing the token - I have been choosing someone to start and then the person picks where the token goes next.

Not optimal....but it is a standup.

Dunrie, I am so jealous of your innovative success at adapting this practice into a new and progressive form. I know what you mean about the informal exchange of information that at first appears peripheral and ends up being critically useful. There's real value in prattle, and it seems like the team your on has conquered that first hurdle of being reasonably concise an on topic. Good luck. Ramble on.

Questions:
1) What inanimate object calls the standup?
2) How do you "pass the token" on IM?
